Sincere thanks to everyone in Salt Lake City from the AVP.
It’s been nearly 48 hours since our first tournament of the 2013 season wrapped up with April Ross, Jen Kessy, Phil Dalhausser and Sean Rosenthal being crowned champions of the AVP Salt Lake City Open, and we’d be lying if we said we weren’t still buzzing with excitement over an amazing event!
The AVP kicked off its five-week tour on Aug. 17-18 in Salt Lake City, Utah. The top-seeded teams won both the men’s and women’s tournaments.
Phil Dalhausser (Ormond Beach, Fla.) and Sean Rosenthal (Redondo Beach, Calif.) placed first on the men’s side, while Jennifer Kessy (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.) and April Ross (Costa Mesa, Calif.) topped the women’s bracket.
Competition was fierce for both the men and women, where both finals went to three close sets. Dalhausser and Rosenthal defeated Ryan Doherty (Toms River, N.J.) and Todd Rogers (Santa Barbara, Calif.), 21-12, 19-21, 15-10. Kessy and Ross outlasted Lauren Fendrick (Carlsbad, Calif.)
