Jake Gibb and Casey Patterson cemented their place as equal rivals with No. 1 U.S. team Sean Rosenthal and Phil Dalhausser this weekend in Atlantic City after taking their second consecutive AVP title. In Cincinnati, they took the championship match away from underdogs Theo Brunner and Nick Lucena and on a week later followed up with a win over Rosenthal and Dalhausser in the Atlantic City final. Jennifer Kessy and April Ross won the Atlantic City Open on Sunday for their second AVP Tour title of the season, beating Emily Day and Summer Ross 23-25, 21-16, 15-13.
Kessy and April Ross also won the season-opening event in Salt Lake City. Day and Summer Ross were coming off a victory last week in Cincinnati.
Atlantic City's sun-filled beaches will extend the summer with the DO AC Pro Beach Volleyball Invitational from today, Sept. 6-8.
