The Association of Volleyball Professionals (AVP) is set to finish its 2013 AVP Tour this weekend at Huntington Beach, California. It will officially mark the end of the first year as AVP Managing Partner for Donald Sun (son of billionaire Kingston Technology co-founder David Sun) and the first full-year Tour since the AVP suspended operations in August 2010. COSTA MESA, Calif. (Oct. 14, 2013) – The AVP (Association of Volleyball Professionals) and smart USA announced today that the professional beach volleyball tour and the innovative car company have reached an agreement for title sponsorship of the AVP’s season-ending championship tournament.
Local volleyball hopes to invigorate public support for the sport. The Cayman Islands Volleyball Federation is hosting its inaugural Big Dig Beach Volleyball Tournament next Saturday, Oct. 19. Royal Palms will serve as the venue from 2 p.m.
A press release from the federation said the competition hopes to boost local volleyball initiatives. The release states, “The venue, which is not unfamiliar with beach volleyball enthusiasts, has agreed to partner with the federation to raise funds for the ongoing indoor and beach volleyball programs.
