AVP Seattle Open Recap

 |

AVP Pro Beach Volleyball headed back to Seattle for another successful tournament. The Seattle Open was held at Lake Sammamish State Park from Thursday, June 2nd to Sunday, June 5th and was jam-packed with volleyball action. The only thing matching the heated action was the heat itself, with temperatures rising above 90 degrees fahrenheit- this didn’t slow the athletes down though as they put on top talent performances with the ability to jump into Lake Sammamish after a match to cool off!

Highlights from the weekend included 16th seeded men’s qualifying team of Kevin McColloch & Roberto Rodriguez-Bertran beating Olympic bound #1 seed Jake Gibb & Casey Patterson. The surprise winners became the first 16th seed in AVP history to take a #1 seed down in the first round of a 16-team draw, however, they would lose in later rounds. For the second time in two years, both the men’s and women’s winners of the AVP Seattle Open captured their first tour championships as teams when Billy Allen & Theo Brunner and Lane Carico & Summer Ross won the finals at the sun-drenched AVP Seattle Open. Next stop is New York City, and you’re not going to want to miss the action!
