Indoor Satellite tournament in Russia to open 2014 Beach Volleyball season

 |

Anapa, Russia, November 15, 2013. The 2014 Beach Volleyball season will start very early as the city of Anapa and the Volley Grad are going to host a CEV Indoor Satellite tournament scheduled for January 16-19, 2014 that will open another busy year for Europe’s Beach Volleyball family.

Volley Grad is a splendid sports complex set up by the Russian Volleyball Federation in the small village of Vityazevo, nearby Anapa, and the place where the national teams come together to prepare for their international campaigns. Volley Grad enjoys a superb location, right by the shores of the Black Sea, on one side, and nearby a beautiful lagoon on the other end.
The windows of the hotel annexed to the sports complex provide all guests with superb views of the surrounding landscape and of the seaside as well.

Russia’s Volleyball and Beach Volleyball national teams have made Volley Grad their “home” already in 2009 and the complex has hosted many training camps joined by players of all age groups. One of Russia’s Beach Volleyball stars, Konstantin Semenov (pictured), is a member of the local Volleyball club Vityaz. This year Semenov won the CEV Satellite in Antalya as well as the CEV Masters in Baden and the FIVB Open in Anapa together with Yaroslav Koshkarev before claiming a silver medal at the Berlin Grand Slam together with Viacheslav Krasilnikov.

Volley Grad already hosted an indoor Satellite tournament in 2011 and after a short break the Russian Volleyball Federation decided to go for a remake with the next edition coming up in mid-January shortly after the Christmas holidays.
“We hope that this tournament will be attended by some of the strongest teams in Europe” says Tournament Director Boris Simonenko. “We will try to prepare the best conditions for all participating teams and we already look forward to welcoming as many as possible.”
