Biography

One of the best female players on the beach, Jen Kessy and her partner April Ross have established themselves as the new American team to beat, capping off 2012 with a silver medal from the London Olympics and two first-place finishes on the AVP Tour.

The duo started off their partnership in 2007 with a second-place finish in the 2007 AVP season-opener in Miami. They advanced to five additional semifinals, including another championship match. In Hermosa Beach, Calif., they defeated Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh in the winner’s bracket, marking just the third time that duo had lost on the AVP Tour prior to the semifinals.

Jen Kessy attended the University of Southern California, where she played volleyball all four years. She was named All-District in 1997, an All-American in 1998, and was an All-Pac 10 selection her entire collegiate career. Kessy was also a member of the U.S. Junior National Team.

Kessy made her AVP debut in 2001 at Hermosa Beach. Since then she has found great success, winning an AVP tournament fourteen times. Kessy was also named AVP Most Improved Player in 2004 and won Team of the Year in 2013 with April Ross. In 2013, Kessy won two events and finished top-3 in five events. Kessy currently sits at 5th all-time in women’s earnings, with over $1.3 million. Kessy qualified for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London where she, along with April Ross, won a silver medal. In March of 2013, Jennifer married French volleyball player Andy Ces.
