How can I purchase a ticket to attend?

General admission is always FREE! No tickets are required for entry.

Are there shaded seats for General Admission?

There are shaded seats for General Admission on Stadium court but there is a limited amount and it is first come, first serve basis.

Are there any VIP options?

Yes! If you are looking to elevate your AVP weekend, there are three different VIP packages offered:

  • Club AVP
  • Courtside Box
  • Courtside Cabana

Is there re-entry?

Yes, come and go as you please, but we hope you just come and stay.

If I can’t make it to the tournament, will I be able to watch the online?  Where?

Absolutely! You will be able to watch matches on Amazon Prime Video for free with your Amazon Prime membership.

How can I follow the scores online?

Stay up-to-date with every match in real-time at AVP.com/Scoring.

What’s the schedule of the tournament?

Thursday, August 15th

  • Qualification Rounds, 8am – 7pm
  • Walk of Fame Pier Ceremony for 2018 MBO Champs

Friday, August 16th

  • Opening Rounds, 9am – 6pm

Saturday, August 17th

  • Elimination Rounds, 9am – 6pm

Sunday, August 18th

  • Final Rounds, 9am – 5pm
What happens at the Qualifiers?

Any team is allowed to sign up and compete in the Thursday Qualifiers.  8 teams will qualify and make it into Friday’s Main Draw.  The Qualifiers are open to the public but there are no VIP packages available. There is also no live scoring or livestreaming options for the Qualifiers’ competition.

What is the size of the draw for this tournament?

32 Main Draw teams for both men and women — 14 auto entries, 10 wild cards, and 8 qualifier teams.

How are athletes seeded?

Athletes are seeded based on the team’s total AVP points.

How is the Wild Card decided?

Wild Cards are awarded based on factors such as enhancing marketability, quality/level of play, and/or sponsor relations for a specific event.  The decision to award a Wild Card is not taken capriciously and much deliberation among the AVP staff takes place.

Where can I park?

The AVP recommends using any of the parking meters in the downtown area with marked prices per hour.  Long-term parking options can be found below:

  • Lot 3: Morningside Dr. & 12th St. $0.75/hr with 10 hour limit
  • Lot 9: Manhattan Beach Blvd. & Morningside Dr. $0.75/hr with 10 hour limit on P2
  • Lot 8: Ardmore Ave. & 13th St. No meter, 10 hour limit
  • Lot 7: Valley Dr. & 10th Pl. $0.75/hr with 10 hour limit

Will the finals be broadcasted on television?

Yes! Tune in to NBCSN on Sunday, August 18th 8:00pm PT to witness the top beach volleyball athletes in the world battle it out in the finals from Manhattan Beach, CA.

Will I be able to meet any athletes?

Yes!  The AVP athletes are always willing to meet, take photos and sign autographs for fans.  You can catch them after matches or walking around the tournament. However, make sure not to disturb them during their warm-ups or when they are on the court.

Will there be food/alcohol for sale?

Yes — we will have multiple bars open to the public around the tournament and food available for purchase on site.  If you have a VIP ticket, food and snacks are included.

Can I bring my own food and drink?

Yes, you can bring your own snacks but please don’t bring outside alcoholic beverages.

What can I bring to the tournament?

Bring your sunscreen, bathing suit, beach towel, hat, noisemakers, and handmade signs.  Outside snacks are allowed, but please DO NOT bring outside alcoholic beverages.

What’s the age requirement for attending a tournament?

No age requirement! Families and friends of all ages are welcomed.

Can I bring my dog?

Unfortunately, there are no dogs allowed at the beach.

What time should I get there on Sunday if I want a seat for the finals?

General admission is open to the public so it is first come, first serve.  Many people arrive early on Sunday so if you are looking to have a seat for the finals, we recommend getting there for the first match on Stadium Court on Sunday.

What activities are available besides volleyball?  Is there anything family-friendly?

Yes, the AVP is a family-friendly place with many activities for all ages! Besides high-level volleyball, the tournament will include Sponsor Village, food and drink stations, the Jumpman Zone, a Bounce House for children, a ball-drawing station with Wilson, and more!

What brands will be in sponsor village?

Sponsor village will include Kicking Horse Coffee, Klenskin sunscreen, Kona Brewing Company, Townshend’s Brew Dr. Kombucha, Truly Spiked & Sparkling, Bitchin’ Sauce, Kona Deep water and more!

What are you doing to ensure my safety at the tournaments?

The AVP has security on site all weekend long.

As an athlete, how and when do you sign up?

In order to play in any AVP sanctioned event, you must be an AVP Member.  You can sign up here.  If you are signing up for the first time, please be aware your membership can take up to 48 hours to activate.  To sign up for the Gold Series, Manhattan Beach Open, please register at our Athlete’s Corner page. The registration deadline is August 7th at 11:59pm PT.  This season, registering only requires 1 ATHLETE PER TEAM to sign up.  However, both individual’s AVP Membership numbers are needed to complete the form.

What’s the age requirement for playing in a tournament?

All athletes must be older than 12 years old.

I’m a photographer or member of the media — how do I retrieve a media pass?
