A National Anthem To Remember

 |

It was the final day of summer. The stadium was packed with standing room only. Before the women’s final was about to take place, everyone rose from their seats for the singing of the National Anthem. Jake Gibb’s niece, Saundra, walked out to the court. Even at just 12 years old the sound of her voice as she began to sang melted everyone’s hearts.

Although Saundra was a little nervous at the start, as anyone would be, she was able to find her voice as the crowd joined in with her. Her voice was beautiful. This was a very special moment at the final event of the 2014 AVP season.

Jake Gibb commented on this moment and said, “I thought It was beautiful how the fans supported Saundra when she needed a little help. I love our AVP community for that. I’m so proud of Saundra for being such a brave 12 year old.”

We are so proud too. And what a way to end the season! Thank you to everyone who helped make this moment so memorable.
