Field/Wilcox and Anderson/Chacon Earn the Final Two Automatic AVP League Berths at Qualifier 3
The qualification series is complete. On Saturday in Manhattan Beach, Troy Field and Ryan Wilcox swept Chaim Schalk and James Shaw in the men’s final, and Maddie Anderson and Alaina Chacon swept Chloe Loreen and Corinne Quiggle in the women’s final — each earning the last automatic berths into the 2026 AVP League.
Across three Saturdays, six teams have qualified through the bracket. Three men’s spots and two women’s spots remain vacant. AVP ownership will decide those five teams later this week. Stay tuned.

Men’s Final — (3) Field / Wilcox def. (1) Schalk / Shaw | 2-0
Field and Wilcox qualified for the AVP League with a dominant run through the bracket, winning every match in straight sets. In the final, they took the first set 15-9 behind Troy Field’s presence at the net — including a block and a hit over James Shaw to build a 14-9 lead before Ryan Wilcox closed it with a transition swing.
The second set was tighter. Field recorded three blocks in the early going to help build a lead, but Schalk and Shaw fought back. A James Shaw ace tied it at 6-6 before Field and Wilcox pulled ahead again. Schalk and Shaw closed to 14-13 late, but Wilcox sided out to end the match and punch their ticket to the League.
“The body language, the vibe that Wilcox and Field had on their side was something I haven’t seen in a while, particularly from Troy,” AVP commentator Richard Lambourne said. “There wasn’t any tentativeness in their game. That was hugely critical for them.”
Field and Wilcox were eliminated in the first round of qualifier 1. They returned as the 3-seed in qualifier 3 and didn’t drop a set.
Women’s Final — (8) Anderson / Chacon def. (3) Loreen / Quiggle | 2-0
Anderson and Chacon entered as the 8-seed and swept every match on the day, including a quarterfinal win over top-seeded Rodriguez and Shaw. In the final against Loreen and Quiggle, they fell behind 3-5 in the first set before scoring five straight points to take an 8-5 lead. The set tightened late at 13-13 before a missed serve by Loreen and an ace from Anderson closed it 15-13.
The second set was contested point for point — tied at 3, 10, 11, 12, and 13. At 13-13, Chacon converted a dig and kill to go up 14-13. Anderson then finished the match with a transition kill off the block to qualify for the League.
“I don’t know if we looked at the bracket, if a lot of people necessarily had that team circled as a team with a legitimate chance of qualifying,” Lambourne said. “They played like they believed in themselves. They didn’t seem to waver at all from their game plan or the aggressiveness of their play.”
