Tealle Hunkus and Kimberly Dicello of USA-A won the title at Antigua Guatemala, the third stage of the NORCECA 2014 Tour, defeating Tracy Weamer/Kendra Vanzweiten of USA-B by 2-0 (21-15, 26-14).
The gold match had a great display from both teams, especially in the second set that ended in Hunkus/Dicello second title of the season, they won the Gold at Cayman too. Hunkus/Dicello also reached the podium in Guatemala City winning the bronze medal.
In semifinals, Hunkus/Dicello prevailed over Cubans Lianma Flores/Leila Martinez in a tough three setter by 26-24, 18-21, 15-10 and Tracy Weamer/Kendra Vanzweiten also had a tough match against Costa Ricans Karen Cope/Natalia Alfaro by 2-1 (21-13, 22-24, 19-17) to arrive in the Gold Medal Match.
Kimberly McGiven expressed her gratitude for the organizing committee, “We had a wonderful time here in Antigua Guatemala, the city is beautiful and the people are very warmth, it was a great experience”.
About the match she said “we ironed out a couple of things with Tealle and we played with the right mental state, which made a difference from our performance last week in Guatemala City”.
Tealle Hunkus added “I feel we did a better job here in Antigua, the adjustments we made worked out well”.
Cuban Lianma Flores and Leila Martinez reached the podium capturing the bronze medal when they defeated Karen Cope/Natalia Alfaro CRC in a splendid comeback by 16-21, 21-13, 15-11.
