AVPNext partners with Team Chicago of the Extreme Volleyball Professionals (EVP) League for three tournaments in the greater Chicago area:

AVPNext has partnered with Team Chicago of the Extreme Volleyball Professionals (EVP) League to bring three EVP tournaments in the greater Chicago area under the AVPNext umbrella.

The tournaments will feature open divisions for both men and women and will take place July 12 in Chicago, July 16-17 in Rosemount, Ill. and August 2 in Michigan City, Ind. The team will the most aggregate points at the completion of the series will be named the AVPNext Chicago series champion.

In addition to winning a cash prize and earning the AVP points equivalent to a 13th place finish, the champion will also be awarded a trip to Southern California to compete in the AVPNext Championship Cup on Thursday, Sept. 18 in Huntington Beach.

The Cup will be comprised on a one-day double-elimination tournament where the winners from each region face off against each other. The winner of the Cup then advances in to the main draw of the smart AVP Championships at Huntington Beach Sept. 19-21 where they will join beach volleyball’s best for the AVP’s 2014 season finale.

AVPNext Milwaukee Kicks Off Series Thursday:

Nine women’s teams and 17 men’s team will kick off play Thursday at Bradford Beach as the AVPNext Milwaukee series gets underway.

Playing in a single-elimination two-day tournament, each of the teams is looking for a chance to be named “Series Champion” and walk away with $500 in prize money, the AVP points equivalent to a 13th place finish and a trip to Southern California to compete in the AVPNext Championship Cup on Sept. 18.

Several players competing in the series have already made their mark on the AVP Pro Beach Volleyball Tour. On the women’s side, top-seeded duo Caley Redden and Branagan Fuller are coming off qualifying for their first AVP main draw where they took a 13th place finish in St. Pete. While the men’s side features two players who have qualified on the AVP in the last year. One half of the top seed is Big Bend, Wis. native Billy Kolinske, who qualified in the 2013 St. Pete Open and finished in 9th place with then partner Steven VanderWerp. The other AVP player participating is Tom Kohler who is seeded fourth with partner Mike Boag. Kohler qualified for the 2013 Manhattan Beach Open with Matt Hilling after the pair came through the qualifier.

Each team will play at least one match this week with the series wrapping up next Thursday night when the champions from each gender are crowned.
