Are you ready for the Wimbledon of beach volleyball?!
This weekend, the AVP is making its way to California for the first time this season. With so much history behind the event having started in 1960, players hope to win the title of the most well-known, and longest running, beach volleyball event in the U.S.
Qualifier action gets underway tomorrow (Thursday) with 8 teams per gender making it into the main draw on Friday. While every other event this season is a 16-team main draw, the MBO is a 32-team main draw, so there will be nonstop matches throughout the weekend.
The Pier Ceremony for the 2013 MBO winners is taking place tomorrow at 1:30pm on the Pier. Whitney Pavlik, Kerri Walsh Jennings, Casey Jennings, and Matt Fuerbringer will be honored at the ceremony.
Throughout Fri-Sun, live scoring will be up and running. The live stream will also be available all day Saturday and Sunday up until the finals. You will be able to watch the finals LIVE on CBS Sports Network starting at 1pm PST. Be sure to check your local listings.
It’s going to be a great weekend with the best beach volleyball athletes in the US! See you on the beach!
