DJ Klasnic was born and raised in Serbia’s second-largest city Novi Sad. Both of his parents played professional volleyball and owned a women’s indoor club for more than 40 years. His initial volleyball skills were honed by them, and throughout his entire childhood, he was motivated to achieve what they had accomplished and to play at the same level. In 2012, he played for his beach national team at the World Championships under 19 in Cyprus. This tournament proved to be life-changing. From that day forward, DJ’s dream was to master the game and reach the highest level of beach volleyball. Since playing full-time beach in 2017, DJ has participated in 54 FIVB tournaments and earned three medals on the World Tour. As a child, he was an avid viewer of AVP legends on YouTube, including Karch, Sinjin, Randi, Phil, Todd, and others battling it out. He often dreamt of playing in the USA on the AVP. In 2017, for the first time, he visited the USA, still nurturing the same dream. Six years later, his dream finally came true. In his debut season in 2023, DJ participated in six AVP tournaments, qualified for five, and earned a Top 10 finish in 4. His fellow athletes voted him the 2023 Rookie of the Year.
DJ has a Bachelor’s in Software Engineering and Master’s in Computer Science. When not on the volleyball court, DJ finds solace in nature, spending time with his girlfriend and friends, camping, hiking, playing board games, and exploring new destinations. His preferred culinary delight is crepes, a dish for which he takes charge of preparation for friends and family, boasting years of experience flipping them. He highly recommends the book “The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari,” emphasizing its life-changing impact.
