Hagen, son of volleyball legend Sinjin Smith, has been around the sport since day one. Growing up, he played indoor volleyball for his school and club teams before competing on the beach circuit each summer. He played high school volleyball at Loyola High School before continuing his career at UCLA, where he was part of a 6-2 offense alongside Micah Ma’a — a system UCLA had not used since his father’s time with the program.
After graduating from UCLA in 2017, Hagen transitioned to beach volleyball full-time. He has competed on the AVP since 2017 and has become a staple of the AVP, with a huge personality and long, shiny hair. In 2025, Hagen competed for the LA Launch alongside partner Logan Webber. The Duo finished second at the League Championships, earning another season with the LA Launch. Hagen earned the title of Ambassador of the League in 2025.
Outside of volleyball, Hagen enjoys surfing, dirt biking, training in the gym, and just about anything competitive. One thing fans may not know about him: he was bitten by a shark at age 15.
