Born into a family whose parents and siblings adore volleyball and continue to compete, Jacob was introduced to volleyball from the time he could walk. He grew up playing youth and CBVA tournaments on local California beaches, as well as indoor club volleyball. He earned his undergraduate degree in Marine Biology at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC), finishing his collegiate indoor volleyball career in 2015 as team captain and earning First Team All-American honors. By 2018, Jacob channeled his passion for the sport, both playing and teaching it, by dedicating his time to becoming a professional athlete and coach. When not competing or training, Jacob devotes his time to coaching beach and indoor volleyball at the club and collegiate levels. As Assistant Coach, he helped the UCSC Banana Slugs to a National Championship Runner-up in 2019. Now the Head Men’s Volleyball Coach at UCSC, he is looking to bring the Banana Slugs their first National Title.
Jacob believes there is nothing better than playing in front of a great crowd and hopes to meet those fans and spectators he has the privilege to play in front of.
