Katie Spieler grew up on the sands of East Beach and fell in love with beach volleyball at a young age. She holds a career-best 3rd place finish on the AVP with multiple top 10 finishes over her three years on tour. She has won 3 Gold Medals and 2 Silver Medals internationally, with her most recent win as the 2019 World Champion for Beach Volleyball 4 x 4. She graduated from the University of Hawaii as a two-time beach volleyball All-American, 2016 Big West Conference Champion and Pair of the Year, Top 30 Nominee for NCAA Female Athlete of the Year, four-year captain for UH beach volleyball, and 2016 Female Athlete of the Year for the University of Hawaii. Upon graduating with a Masters in Accounting, she passed the CPA exam – but decided to do all things volleyball instead.
In 2016, Katie co-founded a youth and adult beach volleyball club in her hometown of Santa Barbara, called East Beach Volleyball Academy. Since then, she has pursued her passion for teaching the love of beach volleyball to people of all ages and backgrounds. Besides being a volley enthusiast, Katie is a beekeeper (hence her nickname “Honeybee”), loves to dance, and works on the Eric Zaun Scholarship Fund to spread awareness for mental health and honor our beloved EZ.
