Maria Clara Salgado started playing professionally in Rio de Janeiro at 17. She played 13 years with her sister, Carolina, representing Brasil on the FIVB Tour. She won 2 FIVB Gold Medals, including a Grand Slam in Moscow. She finished second on the FIVB 2013 World Ranking, achieving 6 podiums finishes on that season. She also received AVP Newcomer of the Year in 2017, won FIVB Best Server in 2008 and 2009, and has had 28 Semifinals appearances on the FIVB.
In 2016, she took a break to have her first son, Joaquim, with Jeremy Casebeer. Her favorite AVP memory was playing her first semifinal in Hermosa Beach. When she is not playing, she loves exploring with Joaquim and traveling to new places and getting to know new cultures. Her favorite place is the beach with friends on off-days, her favorite food is sushi, and her favorite book is To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee.
