Burik started his collegiate career at Delaware, where he was named to the NIRSA National Club Volleyball Championships All-Tournament team. He transferred to George Mason, where as a junior he was second-team EIVA all-East as an outside hitter. Both of his first two years he was selected to the conference all-academic team as an exercise science major.
In high school Burik played football for four years and baseball for three years, being named All-Queens as a senior. His one season of volleyball netted him All-Long Island honors in addition to making the NYC Empire State volleyball team. He has three older brothers, Kevin, Brian, who played collegiate baseball, and Scott, who played collegiate football.
What are your pre-game rituals?
Situps, pushups and curls… If it’s a big match, I go triple scoop 😉
What is your favorite event location?
AVP NYC!!! It doesn’t get better than playing in front of a hometown crowd!
If you weren’t playing professional volleyball, what would your job be?
I’m already a coach and I would stick to that. I love being a part of someone’s athletic journey. I like giving an athlete a small boost and then seeing how far they run with it whether they stick in athletics or they take the lessons into other parts of their lives.
