Athlete Information

Hometown Lakewood, CA
Height 6'6"
Birthday November 3, 1985

Paul played indoor at Long Beach State University, where he was named the NCAA Co-Player of the Year in 2008. After graduating, Paul moved to Puerto Rico to play his first year of professional indoor volleyball. From there, he played in Greece, France, Italy, Poland, Germany, Indonesia, and finally, India. Before transitioning to beach volleyball and the AVP, Paul was an alternate for the 2016 Indoor Team at the Rio Olympics. In 2022, he and Miles Partain won their first long-awaited and well-deserved AVP – the Atlanta Gold Series. He then traveled to Dubai with Taylor Crabb, winning a Bronze medal and the Challenge event in the fall of 2022. Paul also is pretty sure he led the AVP Tour in illegal double contacts in 2022, and no opponent was even close.

Paul is the proud father of three kids, Leif, Lane, and Link; he and his wife like the one-syllable L names and enjoy confusing/challenging everyone they meet. Paul’s favorite food is eggplant, specifically a Chinese dish with smashed eggplant and a black century egg, and the two Trader Joe’s eggplant spreads, one with red peppers and the other with tomatoes and onion. He enjoys running (but limits it to save his knees), mountain biking, swimming, and bodyboarding.
