Sean “Rosie” Rosenthal attended Redondo Union High School but never played organized volleyball. He always preferred beach. He chose not to attend college and pursued his professional career instead. Rosie made his AVP debut in 1997 as a 17-year old, finishing 49th. In 2000, Rosie truly began his AVP career, participating in eight events with a best finish of 17th place. He’s also a two-time Olympian with Jake Gibb, participating in the Beijing and London Olympics where they finished 5th both times. Rosie was named FIVB Top Rookie in 2006. Rosie and partner Jake Gibb had a great season in 2012; Rosie earned FIVB’s Most Outstanding while the duo won the FIVB Tour Championship and was named FIVB Team of the Year.
As one of the true AVP veterans remaining entering his 21st full season, Rosie is hungry for more success. He’s equipped with his crew of superfans, Rosie’s Raiders, and his Superman music from DJ Roueche.
