Silila “Lila” Tucker learned beach volleyball at a young age from his dad Dennis Roberts who played with a young Casey Patterson in the early 2000s. While his dad played, Lila remembers running around AVP tournaments to the sponsor booths and collecting all the free stuff he could. Lila, born in Utah, made the jump (to his second home at the time) to Hawaii to pursue volleyball at a higher level in high school. Converting to a full-time indoor player in search of a college scholarship, he played beach volleyball tournaments every weekend he had the chance. At Graceland University, he was a 4-year starting setter, earning All-Conference accolades and Athlete of the Year.
Since pursuing professional beach volleyball, Lila has steadily improved year to year with better finishes and more Main Draw appearances every season. One thing he wishes fans knew about him is that his younger sister may wind up being the best volleyball player in his family. When he’s not playing volleyball, Lila is a Co-Founder of 2nd Nature Performance, a sports and business performance company specializing in individualizing coaching/teaching/managing. Lila also Directs Pulse Beach Volleyball Club, helping foster the growth of beach volleyball for the next generation of high school, college, and professionals.
