Stafford Slick was born in Andover, MN, and he resides in Hermosa Beach, CA where he also trains. Slick attended the University of Minnesota where he played outside hitter for the school’s club team. Slick was the team captain and from 2007-09 was the president of the club.
Slick made his AVP debut in 2010 at Hermosa Beach. 2013 was by far the most successful season of his career, when he finished the season with four top-5 finishes and seven top-10 finishes. Aside from training for his career, Slick works as a teacher and mentor at Fusion Academy in the South Bay. Stafford is also married to Julie Slick. Currently, Slick is sponsored by Paul Mitchell and will be teaming up with Adrian Carambula for the upcoming AVP Tour.
2015: Slick partnered with Todd Rogers, and the duo had a best of a third-place finish on the AVP Tour. Slick ended the year ranking 10th in blocks per set (1.41) and 10th in hitting percentage (.421). In their first event together, in China on the FIVB Tour, Rogers and Slick finished fourth. They played three FIVB events on the season, and Slick also played three tournaments with Sean Rosenthal.
Favorite thing about beach volleyball: “Transition setting.”
Something people would be surprised to know about you: “In my junior and senior year of high school, I was selected to the Minnesota All-State Choir.”
