Taryn began playing beach volleyball in January 2019 at LSU, graduating early from Creighton University, where she competed for 4 seasons as an All-American indoor volleyball outside hitter. In 2015 & 2016, she and her team made it to the Sweet 16 and Elite 8. In 2017 she was named Big East Tournament MVP. In her senior season, she was a Senior CLASS Award finalist. Although a professional indoor volleyball career was her original dream, things changed when she got a taste of beach volleyball. COVID sent her back to Louisiana State University for an additional year, which put her professional indoor volleyball career on hold and allowed her to focus completely on beach volleyball. It was during that time she really found a love for the game. It was a great challenge, but one that she was eager to tackle. In her 2020 and 2021 seasons at LSU, she had a record of 50-0. Taryn was named AVCA & NCAA pair of the year with Kristen Nuss and also was named an NCAA First Team All-American.
Taryn started her career on the AVP tour in 2021 with former LSU partner Kristen Nuss. In their first tournament on the AVP tour in Atlanta, they played through the Qualifier and ended up winning the entire tournament. Taryn’s favorite memory was the entire AVP Atlanta experience — from seeing the location and set up to becoming a 2021 ATL AVP Champion and celebrating with her family, beach partner, and coach. Taryn and Kristen were named 2021 Co-Rookies of the Year. They followed their rookie seasons up with three more wins in 2022, the only women’s team to win multiple events. When Taryn is not playing volleyball, she likes to find new restaurants, travel, boat with family and friends, and compete in everything from board games to tennis.
