Main Draw Format: 8 Team Double Elimination
Qualification Tournament: 12 Team Single Elimination
The Draw
The composition of the Main Draw for the first event will be as follows:
- 4 Teams on Automatic Entry points (AVP Rankings)
- 2 Wild Cards (outlined above)
- Any Wild Card not used will be allocated to the next team on entry list
- 2 Teams advance from the Qualification Tournament
- The Qualifier will be capped at 12 teams per gender
- For teams that fall below the Qualifier cap, they will be placed on a Reserve List in the event a Qualification Team withdraws
Seeding Policy
This initial event of the series will be seeded based on AVP Rank.

- Freeze scoring will NOT be used during this portion of the event
Main Draw Tournament
- Double Elimination Tournament
- Saturday — Winner’s Rounds 1 & 2 // L7 // L5 (men only)
- Sunday — L5 (women only), Semi-Final and Final Matches

The Draw

- 1 Wild Card
- Any Wild Card not used will be allocated to the next team on seed index
- 2 Teams advance from the Qualification Tournament
- The Qualifier will be capped at 12 teams per gender
Seeding Index Policy
After the first event, seeding and entry into the Main Draw will be calculated via the seed index method. Seed index is the average finishing position of the team and hence a lower seed index will award a higher ranking.
For example,
If Jones/Smith gain the following results:
- Event 1: 5th
- Event 2: 7th
Their seed index would be the following:
- Event 2 = 5.00 – Calculation: 5/1
- Event 3 = 6.00 – Calculation: (5+7)/2
Any ties in the seed index after event 1 will be broken by:
Initial series entry point totals.
Any ties in the seed index after event 2 will be broken by:
- Higher most recent finish
- Head to head in event #2
- Higher event #2 set ratio
- Higher event #2 point ratio
Qualification Tournament

The Champions Purse – Bonus Pool
The Champions Purse of $50,000 per gender will be awarded to the top three teams throughout the Champions Cup Series of events. To be eligible, teams must play all three events as a team.
The team distribution of the Champions Purse per gender is as follows:
- 1st: $25,000
- 2nd: $15,000
- 3rd: $10,000
Overall Series seed index will be used to rank the teams.
- The following will be used to break two-way ties in overall seed index at the end of the series and in this order:
- Head to head results throughout the series including Qualification Tournaments
- Head to head set ratio
- Head to head point ratio
- If no head to head matchups:
- The higher result at the final event
- Team with higher finishing position at either event 1 or 2
- Overall series set ratio
- Overall series point ratio
- The following will be used to break three-way ties in overall seed index at the end of the series and in this order:
- The higher result at the final event
Partner Changes
Once admitted into the series, teams will not be allowed to change partners unless in the instance of an injury. The healthy athlete will be allowed to choose a partner of their choice from outside of the already-competing athletes within the series or if on the Reserve List.
If the injury happens more than 12 hours prior to the commencement of the series, the new teams points will be recalculated and the field will be reseeded to create a new entry list for the series.
Player Apparel
- Players shall comply with the apparel requirements set forth below.
- All playing partners participating in the Main Draw are required to wear the same color swimwear.
- This means the same color shorts for the men and the same color suits for the women.
- The apparel can be different in design and can be from any manufacturer but must be the same color such that it is clear the players are a team.
- In the case of patterned swimwear, all colors in the pattern must match your partner.

- Teams ranked in the top 16 should make reasonable efforts to have their names transferred onto their competition apparel.
- If a player would like to substitute a nickname or their first name for their last name (i.e, Rosie for Rosenthal), a player must submit their request for approval from the AVP office.
- The AVP reserves the right to disapprove any identification other than your last name.
- Any team who fails to comply with AVP apparel requirements will be subject to a fine of $125 per infraction, with increasing each subsequent occurrence increasing by $125.
- Fines will be automatically deducted from the player’s prize money.
